A lifelong resident of eastern North Carolina, Bishop W.C. Hutchins was the fifth & final child born to the late Leon Lorenzo & Rosa Lee Davis Hutchins.
Educated through Wayne County Public Schools, he furthered his academic studies, ultimately achieving recognition as an honors graduate of The University of Mount Olive (Mt. Olive, NC) & being awarded a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Administration degree. In addition to other pursuits of theological education, his ecclesiastical studies earned him the distinction of graduating, with honors, from The Graduate School of Episcopal Studies (Raleigh, NC).
In May 2001, after successfully serving two previous congregations, Bishop Hutchins launched out in faith to facilitate the manifestation of a vision he had received many years earlier, via the establishment of Bethel Light Ministries, Inc. (Goldsboro, NC). Since that time, the ministry has become an integral, well-respected, & highly regarded member of the surrounding communities. An humble, selfless servant-leader, the favor of God on his life has afforded him opportunities to minister in Europe, nearly every state on the east coast, and as far west as Louisiana.
Raised in a devout Christian home & reared to dedicate his life to God & the Church, Bishop Hutchins’ past and current ministerial vitae includes a number of current and past national, denominational, state, and local leadership positions. In addition to serving as the Lead Pastor/CEO of Bethel Light Church Ministries, Inc., his current civic & social duties include:
- Chaplain; Wayne County Sheriff’s Department
- Member; NC Sheriff Chaplains Association
- Lifetime Member; Disabled American Veterans
- Member; American Legion
- Member; Sigma Alpha Pi (National Society of Leadership & Success) (Presidential Award Recipient)
- Lifetime member of the Goldsboro-Wayne Chapter of the NAACP
- Member; Joint College of African American Bishops
In May 2006, in recognition & appreciation for outstanding service as a Minister, at home and abroad, he was honored with a non-academic Honorary Doctor of Divinity degree. A veteran of the US Army Military Police Corps, Bishop Hutchins has been happily married to the love of his life & partner in ministry, Elect Lady (Elder) Revelene Hutchins, MAEd., Executive Pastor of Bethel Light Ministries, & a local educator, for 30+ years.
