“The House of God, Where the Lamb is the Light”
Bethel Light Church Ministries, Inc. (BLCM) is the result of a vision given to our Founding Pastor, Bishop W.C. Hutchins, DD in the fall of 1990; in which, God issued him a mandate to establish a “Ministry”. It was at that same time that God gave him the name for the ministry, which serves to explain its purpose. “Bethel” is taken from Genesis 35:15 – “And Jacob called the name of the place where God spake with him, Bethel;” and “Light” originated from Revelation 21:23 –”And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.” Thus we affectionately refer to BLCM as: “The House of God; Where The Lamb Is The Light!”
The vision finally became a reality when Bethel Light held its first official worship service, with 18 charter members, in the home of our Pastor and Elect-Lady, Elder Revelene Hutchins, MAEd. on May 5, 2001. We remained in that location for three years. During which time, we witnessed blessing after blessing unfold, as God shined and poured out His favor on the ministry. However, due to extensive growth in both the membership and ministries of the church, it became imperative that we relocate as soon as possible. In July 2004, God again opened a door of opportunity and blessed the ministry to relocate to our present location: 2499-A US Highway 117 South, Goldsboro, NC.
As God had spoken prior to the move, with the additional space came additional growth; spiritually, financially, numerically, and in the number of ministries offered. Seeking to provide ministry outside the local congregation, Bethel Light currently operates, among many other ministries, a Transportation ministry – providing free rides to and from all services; a Media ministry – providing free copies of all services in Audio, Video, CD, and DVD formats; an Underprivileged Children’s Fund – providing annual Christmas gifts and other items to needy children throughout Wayne County; and an “as-needed” afterschool tutoring program – providing tutorial assistance, via state-certified academic instructors, to students K-12. Prior to the COVID pandemic, we provided a monthly Rest Home ministry – providing visitations, worship opportunities, & gifts to the residents of Sunbridge Care & Rehabilitation (current Genesis Healthcare) of Mount Olive; and a monthly feeding ministry – providing hot full-course meals to the staff, family members, and residents of the Wayne County Kitty Askins Hospice Center. We have also been blessed to provide spiritual and financial assistance; as well as mentorship to other ministries as far away as Jamaica and West Africa.
